Mayor Fred Panucci
Term of Office: Jan. 2006-Jan. 2010 E-mail: meatball53@readytek.net Fred Panucci was first elected as the Mayor of Syracuse City in November, 2001. He was born in North Hollywood, California in 1953. Mayor Panucci attended California State University at Northridge and later became a sales representative for the Pennzoil Company. One and one half years after beginning work for Pennzoil, Fred was transferred to Utah and promoted to the position of Car Dealer and Lube Center Specialist for Utah. Ten years ago Fred purchased ownership in Oil Rig Inc. (an automotive service and repair facility) and began his career as an independent business owner. During this period of time Fred's company grew from 5 employees to over 30. In 2003 Fred purchased Money Mailer of Davis County, a direct mail company. Mayor Panucci was the first person in Syracuse City's history to be put on the ballot, for the position of mayor, by a citizen's petition. He was first elected in November of 2001 and recently re-elected for a second term. Syracuse City has benefited from Mayor Panucci's business experience as the city deals with its rapid growth. In spite of the challenges that rapid growth brings, Syracuse City continues to have the second lowest property tax rate in Davis County and was recently named the seventh best city in the State of Utah to live in. During the 2003 legislative session Mayor Panucci took an active role in helping to shape the Streamline Sales Tax Legislation. Mayor Panucci currently serves on the Legislative Policy Committee for the Utah League of Cities and Towns, on the Wasatch Regional Council, as Chairman of the Council of Governments for Davis County, and as the Wasatch Front Regional Council's Trans Com representative. Mayor Panucci has been married to his wife Joannie for 27 years and is the father of two children. |
